  • Job Summary:

    The Life Coach will providing coaching and case management at East Austin Children’s Promise (EACP) and East Austin College Prep school district (EAPrep District) with the goal of post-secondary matriculation and/or post-secondary certification. He/she will maintain an efficient work schedule. Occasional weekend and frequent evening work is required. This work is in collaboration with staff and community partners of the Full Service Community Schools (FSCS) grant through the US Department of Education.

    Essential Functions:

    Relationship Management

    • Conducts individual and group coaching
    • Uses student achievement data to make recommendations to clients
      • Grades
      • Career inventory
    • Serves as a problem solver
    • Able to assess when clients are overwhelmed and breaks down goals into smaller pieces
    • Works to determine goals, education and on-going success
    • Provides advocacy and referrals as needed
    • Maintains professional relationship with participants and stakeholders
    • Teach good work habits and social skills
    • Keeps records, documentation collects and verifies required data
    • Develops a transition plan
    • Partners with principals and teachers
    • Uses technology to accelerate development

    Other Functions:

    Program Management

    • Serves as catalyst for innovation
    • All other duties
    • Provide supports to other programs, providing cross-training to others
    • Guides the development, implementation of a competitive program

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work or related field
    • 3-5 years of experience in counseling, coaching, case management or mentoring
    • Bilingual in both Spanish and English with the ability to read, write and speak in both languages
    • Knowledge of effective best practice in the discipline of advising, counseling, mentoring and/or coaching first generation college students

    Preferred

    • Master’s Degree in Education, Social Work or related field

    Physical Demands:

    Must be able to obtain Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification and First Aid Certification (CPR). Must be able to supervise clients indoors and outdoors as necessary. Bending, stooping and lifting up to 15 lbs required to complete daily tasks. Job requires extended periods of sitting; use of various office equipment.

    Work Environment:

    Ability to work a flexible work schedule is required dependent upon the department, facility or program in which s/he works and job duties assigned. Work schedules are subject to variation from time to time depending on the needs of the department, facility or program.
