Job Summary:

The Risk and Safety Trainer is responsible for the development and presentation of risk and safety training courses appropriate to meet the requirements of OSHA regulations and safety industry best practices. The Risk and Safety Trainer must promote a positive and engaging climate of learning to provide SWK employees with the opportunity to enhance their knowledge of workplace safety rules, regulations and risk and safety best practices.

Essential Functions:

  • Create and develop risk and safety training in collaboration with the Risk and Safety Team based on risk initiatives, regulatory requirements, and risk and safety data analytics and trends.
  • Assist the Director of Risk Management to develop an annual risk and safety training calendar for all SWK programs and entities.
  • Create interactive and engaging adult-based learning curriculums for risk and safety trainings.
  • Coordinate the ordering, purchasing, and inventory of training materials.
  • Ensure training materials and location are organized and prepared prior to all trainings.
  • Audit employee’s compliance with required risk and safety trainings.
  • Ensure all employee curriculums are in compliance with SWK, state and federal training requirements.
  • Research, develop, and implement new safety training topics upon the approval of the Director of Risk Management.
  • Engage in continuous learning and development with current risk and safety trends to enhance professional skills in preparation for trainings.
  • Create, identify and attend workshops that will enhance professional skills in the area of education, OSHA, safety and other risk and safety topics deemed appropriate by Director of Risk Management.
  • Participate in and comply with all meetings, assignments, process improvement, and quality improvement initiatives as assigned by Director of Risk Management.
  • Assist with the coordination of Risk and Safety special training events such as Safety Awareness Month and National Cyber Security Awareness Month.

Other Functions:

  • Work in collaboration with other operational areas training team to plan and introduce risk and safety training.
  • Must be available to travel to other cities, states, SWK sites, and community sites as needed in order provide risk and safety training.
  • Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A combination of one of the following: Associate’s Degree with a minimum of four (4) years of training experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of two (2) years of training experience.
  • Excellent public speaking and professional interpersonal skills.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be qualified to drive a SWK vehicle.
  • Must obtain CPR Instructor certification and Active Shooter certification within six months of hire.
  • Must maintain any professional or para-professional certifications acquired while employed with SWK annually.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office and other Microsoft software.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Physical Demands:

Must be able to read, write, and communicate both verbally and in written form to express and exchange ideas. While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee must be able to access all components of work station, reach with hands and arms and utilize other equipment. Frequent typing, writing, bending and twisting. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds, and frequent walking, standing and climbing of stairs or ladders in all weather conditions.

Work Environment:

General office environment with moderate noise. This position is mostly sedentary, involves sitting most of the time, but will also involve walking, standing, or climbing for brief periods of time. A busy environment with many unscheduled interruptions. Frequent computer use at workstation for extended periods of time as well as outdoor monitoring of facilities in all types of weather. Appropriate attire for indoor and outdoor duties required.
