Job Summary:

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for administering policies relating to all phases of human resources support duties, including ensuring that policies, procedures and reporting are in compliance with legal requirements & government reporting regulations affecting all human resources functions. 

Essential Functions:

  • Partners with program management to communicate human resources policies, procedures, programs and laws.
  • Diagnose and successfully handle employee relations questions, issues and organizational development issues including terminations, grievances and follow-up meetings.
  • Works with the corporate management team and legal department to review, update and roll-out the employee guidebook, all policies, and follow-up to ensure compliance.
  • Coordinates with the payroll department to investigate and resolve payroll issues in compliance with state law and the DOL.
  • Directs the records management process for employees in accordance with legal and organizational requirements.
  • Determines and recommends employee relations practices to establish a positive employer-employee relationship. Also conducts internal surveys to determine satisfaction levels and employee engagement.
  • Serves as a consultant to the overall performance management and appraisal process.
  • Maintain awareness and knowledge of HR related laws and practices, as well as internal policies/procedures, and provides suitable interpretation to management and employees.
  • Assists with HR-related education/training, communication and awareness efforts. Supports rollout and training for new HR programs including the Wellness Program, policies, initiatives.
  • Leads recruiting and staffing function including but not limited to, sourcing, screening, select, and hire both internal and external candidates, as needed. Processes employment verifications forms, reference checks, on-boarding, benefits etc.
  • Processes unemployment claim responses.
  • Participates with Corporate HR on HR staff meetings and training.

Other Functions:

  • Participate in Management Team meetings and trainings.
  • Promote high staff morale.
  • Travel to attend meetings, training and other activities.
  • May facilitate group orientations.
  • Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources management, business management, or related field and 3-5 years of Human Resources Generalist experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in administering human resources policies, programs and practices: including planning, organizing, developing, implementing, coordinating, and directing.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate both verbally and in written form to express and exchange ideas.
  • While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee must be able to access all components of work station and other office equipment.
  • Frequent typing, writing, bending and twisting.
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.

Work Environment:

Includes both a typical office environment, with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues, and local travel, including exposure to heat, cold, inclement weather conditions, and occasional environmental hazards.
